Owner request that his dog be put down because of bad breath

Oso (means Bear in English) was surrendered back to the original shelter where he was adopted from years ago.  The owner requested that he be put down because of bad breath and teeth. This was a clear sign of dental hygiene neglect.

Instead of following the owner request, the shelter decided to do something about Oso’s dental health.  The shelter’s vet discovered 21 rotten teeth that had to be extracted, only one could be saved.

After the extraction, the dog was as happy and lively as a dog can be. Oso even allowed the vet to check his teeth, something he wouldn’t allow anyone to do prior to the extraction.

In a rather strange twist, the original owner wanted Oso back, but the shelter felt Oso would be better off elsewhere.
